RMS (Roads & Maritime Services) contracted Earthtec to build an aesthetically pleasing sandstone retaining wall. This helped to increase parking capacity for the Marina down in Mosman, a thoroughfare for travel to Manly. With the heavy traffic flow of the Spit Bridge, consideration had to be applied to material supply and on-site traffic management.

Earthtec successfully completed the scope of works including the supply, installation and removal of a temporary sheet pile wall to provide reinforcement to the Spit Road for the course of works. This allowed the majority of traffic to continue on a daily basis without interruption which was a key specification of the works.

The Goro Nickel project is the largest single-stage construction project ever undertaken in the nickel industry. When completed, it will have a production capacity of 60,100 tonnes.
As part of the construction work, a 14m high Rom Pad (Dump Wall) was required. The wall would allow 174 tonne dump trucks to discharge materials into the plant for processing.

The metTECTM System offers significant advantages over conven-tional reinforced earth walls and has been developed to accommodate a wide range of on-site fill materials and provides an integrated safety system to reduce the working at height risks associated with this type of construction. This system is ideally suited to industrial and remote sites.

EarthTEC’s close involvement with the on-site project team has enabled a number of site generated change requests to be dealt with to achieve a solution tailored to meet the client’s exacting requirements. The finished wall has a face area of 1500m2 and is the first of its kind in the world.

The Warringah Freeway at Roseville Bridge is a major arterial route carrying traffic from Sydney’s Northern beaches to Chatswood and the city. The southbound carriageway runs adjacent to a significant sandstone rock cutting. Rockfalls from the cutting were becoming more common and presenting an unacceptable hazard to motorists & the general public. Access to the fence location was extremely difficult due to the high,narrow benches cut into the cutting during the freeway construction. The installation work needed to be done by hand using industrial rope access techniques and at night due to traffic control restrictions on such an important route.

In preparation for the introduction of Airbus A380, Sydney Airports Corporation Limited (SACL) commissioned a study of available systems for the runway flank protection. As the new planes wing span would be considerably larger than any of the existing aircraft servicing Sydney, it was recognised that the airports runway aprons would need to be extended to prevent loose material and debris damaging the planes engines. EarthTEC planned each work activity with military precision, timing load and delivery cycles and incorporating potential weather delays, security procedures and traffic problems.
